Success Article of the Week
The Power of A Compelling Decision By Duve Nakolisa Every grown-up person is a reflection of the decisions he or she had made. A decision is a stimulus that sets off an action or series of actions. The nature of the actions or the changes they induce, be they good or bad, depends on the quality of the decisions made and the kind of actions or events they generate. The aim of this short article is to inspire everyone to decide not to remain stagnant, to make decisions that would provoke positive changes in their lives, and to stand by their decisions in spite of adverse circumstances and negative criticism. The kind of decision which will set your blood on fire and keep you agitated until what you have decided to do is done is what I call a compelling decision. A compelling decision dictates your destiny. It is what moves your life and your vision in desired directions. It is the centripetal force that organizes your life around one overriding goal – that becomes the yardstick by which you define what matters or doesn’t matter. It is what unites your spirit, soul and body towards a single visionary track. There are influences, always influences, but until you solidly decide on who or what you want to be, you never begin the journey to being the very best of you. You know in the depth of your heart that you are not there yet – you are not where the inner you know you ought to be. You have been eking out a bare existence, cropping off your true essence here and there. Are you not tired of this life of mediocrity, this defacement of who you truly are? If you are, then get set to come out of the rut by making a compelling decision. Decide to be fully and truly you. Decide to come out of the shadows, to rupture the limits and chase your dreams. Decide to live the life you truly love – decide to thrive, to achieve maximum expression of your capabilities, to achieve genuine self-fulfillment. Make the kind of decision that boils you up from the inside. Make a compelling decision! A compelling decision directs or redirects your life by stimulating you to take required steps to disrupt inertial forces and implement changes that break barriers and move your life and your vision not merely forward but frog-ward. To fast-track your life, take a frog-jump by making a compelling decision today. You know best the compelling decision you need to make to begin the journey towards realizing that elusive goal of yours. Things happen for those who decide to make them happen. If your dreams are not happening on the ground, the plain truth is that you have not decided to make them happen. I know you have your excuses but the moment you make a compelling decision your excuses will be overwhelmed. A compelling decision can override or torpedo any barrier on the way of someone who is hell-bent on subduing any opposition to realize his or her goal. A compelling decision moves mountains when it is irreversible or when it drives a goal fixed to happen within a given time-frame. Intense desire pressurized by time and hardened by refusal to accept failure as an option is what makes the object of a compelling decision to happen by force. Every great thing is compelled to happen; whatever else may matter, force is required to make things happen, and a compelling decision is the trigger of that force. A compelling decision releases a tornado that ruffles your life’s status quo, coercing things to move in the direction of the wind or be blown out of its path. If this sounds somewhat extreme, so it is. A compelling decision pushes you to break through barriers and achieve your objective – and breakthrough is not normal! It requires extreme, though not illegitimate, action. Your breakthrough is at the extreme point of all your effort. A compelling decision is a gale, not a gentle goal – it is a vow to be, to do or to get something by all lawful and forceful means! You don’t make a compelling decision and sit down to watch what may happen next. It is only through your action, and the ripples it breeds, that your decision’s latent force is expressed. A compelling decision should jolt you out of your seat and cast you into the field. It should so grip your mind and body that you cannot but be agitated to rise up, to ignore inhibiting stares, to overwhelm inertia, to take resolute steps that dismantle limitations and obstructive convention to make things happen. |
