Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The following questions and answers are designed to help you understand the International Journal of General Studies (IJGS) and its research-paper publishing programme.

  1. What is the vision of IJGS?

The International Journal of General Studies’ main goal is to provide and sustain an international multidisciplinary platform for assembling, publishing and sharing research papers among academics and anyone interested in knowledge acquisition and dissemination.

2. When is IJGS published?

IJGS is published four times a year. There are four issues: January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December issues. Every quarter, an issue of the journal is published before the end of the quarter.

3. When do I submit my paper for publishing consideration?

You can submit your paper at any time. If accepted, your paper will be published in the next quarterly issue of the journal. For the benefit of those who want their papers to be published in a given issue, each quarterly issue is preceded by a Call for Papers announcement that indicates in advance paper submission, paper publication and publication-fee payment deadlines.

4. What areas of research is IJGS interested in?

IJGS is multidisciplinary in orientation. A researcher in any field of study can publish his or her paper in IJGS. Our goal is to enhance and encourage cross-fertilization of ideas across all fields of study, including the Humanities and the Social Sciences, Management and Environmental Sciences, Physical and Natural Sciences, and Engineering and Medical Sciences.

5. How much would it cost me to publish my paper in IJGS?

You will pay only $35 or ₦45,000 to publish your paper. This payment covers cost of peer-review, online publication, indexing and life-time archive of your paper.

6. How do I pay my paper-submission fee?

The first step to being published by IJGS is to submit your paper. Whether you are paying from within or outside Nigeria, the letter conveying the Editorial Board’s acceptance of your paper shall indicate how you will pay your paper-publication fee.

7. What happens after I submit my paper to IJGS?

Your paper, as submitted, is peer-reviewed, and either approved or disapproved. If approved, that approval is communicated to you and you will be asked to pay the paper-publication fee to enable IJGS proceed with further processing of your paper. After your fee is received, your paper is checked for plagiarism and editing/presentation errors; thereafter, your paper’s web page is designed and hosted. If copyright infringements are identified in your paper, the editor-in-chief might correct them or your attention may be drawn to them and you will be asked to correct them. IJGS will guide you on how to rework and resubmit your paper for publication if you have paid its publication fee.

8. What could make IJGS refuse to publish my paper?

IJGS would refuse to publish any paper that is poorly researched, contains plagiarized materials, libelous statements or pornographic matter.

9. What if a submitted paper fails IJGS’ plagiarism test after the author has paid the submission fee, would IJGS refund the author’s money?

No, but such authors would be entitled to being published by IJGS in the next issue of the journal or any other future issue if they avail themselves of any of these two remedial options:

  1. substantially rework their paper, painstakingly excising all aspects of the paper lifted from someone else’s work or expressly using quotation marks to identify such portions and clearly indicating their authors.
  2. submit another well-research and properly-referenced paper for the consideration of IJGS Editorial Board.

10. Do you publish hard-copy editions of IJGS?

IJGS is primarily an online journal and the aforesaid payment covers only the online publication which anyone can have access to any time. However, a hard copy or copies of the journal, upon special request, can be produced for a contributor who orders and pays for their printing, binding and shipping.
